Modified standard bearings, one variable at a time.
Most special requirements do not need a new design. They need a standard series with one variable changed: the material, the rolling elements, the grease, the seal or the clearance. Because the change runs on existing production, the bearing still drops into the housing and the machine stays as it is.
- Series modificationOne variable changed, no new tooling
- No new toolingExisting production route

- Inspection recordsDimensions, clearance, vibration
One variable at a time, chosen by the duty.
A modified standard bearing is specified by the duty it has to survive, not by the catalogue page it started from.
| Change | Result | Typical duty |
|---|---|---|
| Steel → 440C or 316 stainless | Corrosion resistant bearing | Food processing, wash-down, marine, medical equipment |
| Steel balls → ceramic (Si₃N₄) | Hybrid ceramic bearing | High speed spindles, electric motors, vacuum equipment |
| Steel → POM or PEEK | Polymer bearing, low friction | Water treatment, packaging, chemical handling |
| Standard grease → NSF H1 food grade | Food-safe lubrication | Filling lines, baking, dairy processing |
| Standard seal → FKM or PTFE | Chemical and heat resistant sealing | Chemical pumps, cleaning equipment, hot environments |
| CN clearance → C3 or C4 | Higher running clearance | Ovens, furnaces, fans and other hot-running positions |
Standard outside, specific inside.
The dimensions stay catalogue-standard, so the bearing drops into the existing housing and the machine needs no change. Everything that decides life — material, rolling elements, lubrication, sealing, clearance — is set for the actual duty.
- No housing changeBoundary dimensions unchanged, drawings of the machine untouched.
- No new toolingChanges run on the existing production route, so no tooling is raised for one altered variable.
- Documents includedMaterial test report, dimensional report and batch identification, with the contents agreed before the order.
- Repeat ordersThe specification is fixed in writing, so reorders match the first batch.
Which change fits which failure.
The starting point is the failure you are trying to prevent, not the material that sounds advanced.
Rust after wash-down
Stainless rings, food-grade grease and sealed design keep water and cleaning media out of the raceway.
Shortened life at speed
Hybrid ceramic balls cut running temperature and resist the electrical erosion that flutes raceways in motor bearings.
Grease washed out
Higher clearance plus a chemically resistant seal keeps lubricant in and process media out.
Seizure in the oven
C3 or C4 clearance absorbs thermal growth between the rings where CN would lock the bearing.
Tell us the duty, not just the number.
A part number plus the working conditions is enough for a first proposal. The ten points below cover what the review needs.
What to include
- Current part number and quantity per year
- What the bearing is doing: machine and position
- Load, speed and duty cycle
- Continuous and peak temperature
- Medium around the bearing: water, steam, dust, chemicals
- The failure you want to prevent, if there is one
- Documents your receiving process requires

One duty description is enough to start.
Send the part number and the working conditions. The reply proposes the change — or says the standard part is already the right choice.
